Fall is the perfect time to visit Racine County. Whether you’re exploring seasonal orchards, viewing thousands of glowing pumpkins, or enjoying the crisp weather along the Lake Michigan shoreline, there is no shortage of cozy, autumn-themed activities.
Visit the Wind Point Lighthouse
The Wind Point Lighthouse is one of the tallest and most photogenic lighthouses on the Great Lakes. Fall brings crisp air, colorful trees, and fewer crowds. Public tower climbs are typically offered through October.
Visit a Pumpkin Farm and Corn Maze
- Kyle’s Pumpkin Farm has freshly picked carving pumpkins, a wide selection of decorative pumpkins and gourds, and loads of Atlantic Giant and prizewinning pumpkins. An indoor kids play area and corn maze are open daily, and hayrides and barrel train rides are available on the weekend.
- Swan’s Pumpkin Farm encourages visitors of all ages with something for everyone. The entire yard is filled with thousands of pumpkins of all sizes for carving and cooking. Experience a small corn maze, barrel train ride, big green slide, pumpkin jump pillow, pedal carts, and hayride. Their famous apple cider donuts are a must!
- Apple Holler will yield a classic Wisconsin fall experience. This family owned and operated farm features apple picking, hayrides, cider, baked goods and corn mazes. It is one of Racine County’s most popular autumn destinations.
Experience Halloween Events at Racine Zoo
The Racine Zoo is beautiful year-round, but fall often brings special seasonal events. Plan your visit for October and experience the Jack-o’-Lantern displays and themed evenings. The lakefront setting is especially scenic in autumn.
Hike or Kayak at River Bend
One of the best places in the county to see fall colors is at the River Bend Nature Center. Walk the trails that wind through forests, wetlands, and along the Root River, or rent a kayak and view the foliage from the water.
Take a Fall Lake Michigan Walk at North Beach
While swimming season may be over, fall is one of the best times to enjoy the shoreline. The combination of colorful leaves, dramatic waves, and cool temperatures creates a very different—and often more beautiful—experience than summer.
“Quilts on Barns” Tour
Take a fall drive on a self-guided tour featuring 28 massive, colorful 8×8 foot painted wooden quilt squares mounted on historic and active agricultural barns. The project, launched in 2008 by the Racine Arts Council, spans communities like Burlington, Caledonia, Norway and Yorkville.
