BaristaCats Cafe
Whitewater; baristacatscafe.org
BaristaCats Cafe is a cafe and sanctuary that owner and founder Natalie Serna sees as the last stop before a cat finds their furrever home. Inspired by the cat cafes she explored throughout England she opened BaristaCats after seeing there were only two other cat cafes in Wisconsin at the time. With the goal of finding homes for each cat in their sanctuary, cats are spayed or neutered, as well as provided with standard medical care when they come to the sanctuary. They also work with other local rescues to help place cats in loving homes.
To visit, BaristaCats encourages reservations, as walk-ins are only available on a first come, first serve basis, and only 10 people may visit with the kitties at a time in order to keep everyone comfortable. Children 10 and under are not allowed in the Pawlor for the safety of both cats and kids, children ages 11 to 17 must be accompanied by an adult 18-years or older. They do not offer made-to-order food items, but have a variety of prepackaged snacks, alongside options for coffee, tea and hot chocolate. If you fall in love with a cat while visiting you can apply directly on their website to adopt your new furry friend!

The Cat’s Brew
Sun Prairie; thecatsbrew.com
The Cat’s Brew is a local and women owned cat cafe in Dane County. Established by co-owners Heather and Liz, both veterinary technicians, they used to meet for coffee as a way to relax after the stress of working at an emergency vet. What began as an inside joke between the two became a dream realized when they were able to continue to help cats, as well as enjoy their coffee! In their new capacity as owners of The Cat’s Brew they are still able to help cats in need, as well as to help them find loving furrever homes.
To meet the cats at The Cat’s Brew reservations are encouraged due to space capacity, but not required. The cat lounge is separate from the cafe, allowing just those interested in spending time with the cats to do so. A $10 fee is required to spend an hour in the lounge, which helps to pay for everything the cats need. Children 12 years and under require adult supervision in the cat lounge, and it is requested that children three and under view the cats through the windows of the cafe for the comfort of the animals. All of their cats are adoptable through Little Orphans Animal Rescue and can be applied for online.

The Pawffee Shop
Appleton; pawffeeshop.com
The Pawffee Shop offers the option to enjoy your food and drink both in their cafe or in their kitty sanctuary! With the purchase of an item from the cafe or a donation to the rescue they partner with by each member of your group, you may visit the cats in their safe space! The Pawffee Shop partners with Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary, which is a no-kill and cage-free cat sanctuary focusing on rescues that have special needs or disabilities. By working together, The Pawffee Shop and Safe Haven are able to help these loving cats find the purrfect home!
No reservations are required during the week, but they highly recommend making a reservation on Saturday to visit the cats, as that is their busiest day. They have an online waiver that you can fill out before your visit to fast track your way to the cat sanctuary. They ask that you do not pick up the adult cats, that children are closely monitored, that food and drink are not left unattended, to respect the cats’ boundaries and to use calm and quiet voices and body language. You can also pre-order your coffee to expedite your trip or if you don’t have time to visit the kitties that day, they can run your coffee out to your car, but your purchase is still helping these cats find homes.
